Offerung to the wights

I've not yet began daily offerings to the wights. But I'd like to. What offerings would be appropriate? Is there a basis for daily offerings in the lore or other historical evidence of such practice? Or is it a modern thing?

It has been hit and miss with me. Some weeks I do real good and others not at all. So easy to get distracted by daily life. I think it is something we all to work on.

I get the feeling it's a modern thing, but I don't mind.

Anna, I have found the local berg wights like mead and tobacco. At Midsummer perhaps you can leave the offerings on the first day of the GFS folk moot? My ancestors also seem to enjoy good Scots or Irish whiskey too..

I really like the idea of a tobacco offerung.

The last offerings they received were most likely from Native peoples. In my opinion offering tobacco and corn meal might help warm things up between us. It has worked for me in the past. I also leave food offerings too.

First, thanks for allowing me to participate here. :)

So far I have only given weekly offerings to the house wights and am wanting to know more about this as it is something I have not given as much attention as I should have. It's interesting that corn meal has been mentioned here because I have made offerings of cornmeal mush with a big dollop of butter on it. I had been wondering if it was appropriate or not.

Thanks Anna!

Hello everyone, hope you don't mind someone new dropping in. So far in my practice in general when it comes to Wights I normally leave corn meal, tobacco and when I can (family here are very antiachohol) mead or ale or beer. Funny thing is though is that the area I live in supposidly considered to be of "bad spirits" to the Native Tribes. *Shrugs* For the past year now I have had a spirit that has been acting very wightish... I say that because last year he was a blackbird with a twisted leg that was eventually killed by the next door neighbor's dog. Still there are times we have strange occurances such as blackbird type calls yet no blackbirds. Either way I have been leaving food out as offerings when I can that a blackbird would like.
