Fyrnsidu is an Old English term meaning "The Old Ways". We use this term today to refer to the spiritual and religious practices of the so-called "Heathen" Germanic peoples, specifically, the Anglo-Saxons. These ancient peoples had a way of life that recognized the interconnectedness of all things; the physical, spiritual and mental realms, and the natural cycles which govern all living creatures. This way of life was, and still is highly ethical and holistic. Fyrnsidu is not an historical recreation, it is a living religion based o­n the tenets and world-view of the "Heathen" Germanic peoples. Our way is not an anachronism, although we draw great strength from the traditions of our ancestors. Rather, Fyrnsidu is a dynamic, growing faith for the present, but deeply rooted in the past.

Our Policy of Inclusion

Due to some mistunderstandings about the meaning of the term "Anglo-Saxon" it is worth noting that this is a LINGUISTIC TERM, NOT A RACIAL ONE. The Fellowship practices the pagan religion of the English. If you are thinking in English right now, that means you are "Anglo-Saxon" regardless of your race or national origin. The Fellowship does not discriminate against any member or prospective member based on race, sex, national origin, or affectional orientation.

 The following positions are now up for re-election, and the following candidates are under consideration. If you wish to nominate yourself or someone else to one of these positions, please do so over the coming week, as we will close the slate next Sunday.   I will then ask that each Hiredgerifa collect votes from their Hired, and email them to me. If you are a Gesith without a Hired, please vote by sending an email directly to me. Voting may commence on Monday the 17th. I will need all Hirdas to report actual vote counts to me by Dec 20th.

Let it be known to all Fellowship members, that on the 22nd Day of June, During the tide of Litha, the following was abanned:

That any siðcund oath that is accepted either from a híredmann by his or her híredgeréfa, or from a læringmann by any Wita, is subject to a 30-day review period.  During this period, the oath must be made known to the entire Witan by the Wita who received it, so that any objections may be noted.  If there are none during this period, then the oath shall be forever after considered valid.
